Guest Accommodation in Italy
The estabblishments in this Guide have been chosen and inpected by the Italian Touring Clug (TCI). Selected for their character and charm, these establishments all have that certain indefinable "something", which makes them memorable - a combination of atmosphere, character, good taste, friendliness
and an authentically warm welcome that can't be given a simple monetary value. It is a concept implying quality, comfort (though not necessarily luxury), and which may vary from one region to another. The welcome may be particularly Tuscan, or typically Umbrian, and this is why the guide includes such different types
of accommodation, from hotels to agriturismi (farm businesses with accommodation) bed and breakfaast, and holiday homes/apartments.

How the choice was made.

As well character and charm, the establishments selected are reasonably priced relative to their standard of service,
warmth of welcome and overall quality. A few exceptions have been made in the larger cities and a few very special places (although out of season, or at weekends, these, too, may cost less than you might expect).

An unforgettable stay, halfway
 between Liguria and Tuscany

The hotel is in a villa built between the 17th and 18th centuries on the hills that separate the gulf of Spezia from the valley of the River Magra. It overlooks a large estate with olive trees and woods of chestnut and oak. The building is white. with grey stone amphasising details, and is inspired by the architecture of neighbouring Tuscany. The bedrooms are charming and have frescos on the walls. light stucco-work with pastel colours, and period furniture. The communal rooms have the atmosphere of alarge well-furnished family house. The big garden is shaded and romantic. The surrounding area is waiting to be explored, and the guests can choose between the sea on the Ligurian coast or the Versilia beaches, the castles and medieval villages of Lunigiana, the churches and fortresses, museum and cities of artistic treasures.
