Succede questo: quando stai in un bb, o in un albergo, o in una "residenza di charme", per quanto sia bella la casa,
rimane sempre solo un appoggio , dove si sta il meno possibile per gironzolare nei posti intorno.
Invece per noi sono stati divertenti e degni di nota anche i momenti passati dentro Villa Ducci, perchè,
tranne nelle due ore successive al cambiamento di camera....., siamo stati molto bene.
Abbiamo avuto la possibilità di apprezzare il tuo sottile humour inglese in svariate occasioni.
C'è un personaggio di una striscia della settimana enigmistica che si chiama "IL tenero Giacomo".
La striscia non la ricordo, e lui nemmeno, ma mi è rimasto impresso il titolo;
così ci è voluto un attimo per ripensarci quando ci nutrivi , quasi materno, con le tue splendide colazioni,
quando ci spiegavi senza fretta le mete da raggiungere ; ci siamo sentiti coccolati e non solo ospitati.
Forse era meglio "il premuroso Giacomo", ma non veniva la citazione, anche se così sembra
che sei un orsacchiotto di pelouche...
Avendo avuto l'occasione di soggiornare in ben due stanze diverse ti facciamo i complimenti perchè i letti sono davvero molto comodi!
Inquietanti invece i due ritratti degli antenati nel salotto; io (Laura) avevo paura di sognarmeli la notte
vanificando così la comodità del nostro giaciglio.

Quando si entra a Villa Ducci è come se si facesse una visita a dei nonni immaginari, si guardano le loro vecchie foto in salotto, si leggono i titoli dei loro antichi libri.
Poi dopo gli assestamenti conosci un po' Giacomo e ti sembra di parlare con un cugino che non vedi da un po'. Il quale non si è certo risparmiato a indirizzarci verso i panorami più belli con dovizia di particolari, meglio di qualsiasi Baedeker!!! Il gentile locatario vedendoci magrolini ha iniziato subito ad enumerare i ristoranti più buoni, che, a ragion del vero, conosce altrettanto bene dei paesaggi... :-). Probabilmente siamo ingrassati (felici e gaudenti). Villa Ducci è "l'ombelico del mondo", o almeno del piccolo-grande mondo che c'è intorno; Villa Ducci è democratica: uscendo dal BB puoi scegliere di andare a destra o a sinistra e tornare altrettanto soddisfatto. Aneliamo ritorno.

Come sta?
At last we are home after a wonderful time in Italy. We want to thank you
for your hospitality and advice.
We stayed at some more Bed & Breakfast places like Villa Ducci; the problem
was that they could not match your hospitality - we were spoiled by you!
You will be pleased to know that my Italian (which you helped me practise)
and my strained back (which you were most concerned about) have both
improved.
We thought that Villa Ducci is a great place to stay if you want to walk Le
Cinque Terre. A quick trip to La Spezia station then 10 more minutes to
Riomaggiore - easy!
We enjoyed our talks, our breakfasts (nobody else gave us hard boiled eggs),
your lovely house and garden, and the encounters with your aunts in the
garden.
Thank you - I'm sure we will return one day to stay with you.

und als Unterkunft sehr zu empfehlen. Klasse waren auch Deine Tipps für unsere Ausflügen, und die Restaurantadressen die Du uns gegeben hast.

Comments: Villa Ducci was the most relaxing part of my vacation to Italy (August 2000). It was well located for easy day trips to lots of different places, including Pisa, Lucca, le Cinque Terre, Carrara, and others. Plus the drive through the medieval village of Arcola to get to the house was always a thrill.
The accomodations were very nice, and the owner/proprietor, Giacomo Malagamba, was extremely helpful with advice on what to do in the area. He suggested several places to go that I would never have known about, and they ended up being my favorites.
If I ever return to northwestern Italy, Villa Ducci will definitely be on my itinerary.

Tusen takk for et herlig opphold på VillaDucci!
Et fantastisk hus fra ca. 1700 er åpnet for gjester av et meget gjestfritt og hjelpsomt vertskap. Store vakre rom ga oss en smak av fordums storhet. Alle de flotte antikke gjenstandene og møblene ga stedet en unik atmosfære.
Det var litt vanskelig å komme frem (stedet ligger nærmere La Spezia enn Lerici) oppi åsen, så man er avhengig av bil for å komme til stranden (Lerici) og å spise middag, men det er mange attraksjoner innen rimelig rekkevidde.
Vi besøkte Firenze, Pisa og Lucca, men mest inntrykk gjorde fotturen i Cinque Terre. Vi tok båt fra La Spezia til Riomaggiore og fikk sett området inkludert Portovenere fra sjøsiden. Fikk deretter med oss til fots fire av de fem utilgjengelige landsbyene i fantastisk flott natur. Tog tilbake til La Spezia. Dette var høydepunktet i vår nesten tre ukers lange bilttur Europa rundt.
